27.05.19

May has been a busy month for Fashion, from the Met Gala, followed by the most recent Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Whether it be your favourite Australian designer, or street style, we have collated the top 5 trends from this year’s MBFWA.

Many Australian designers showcased their new season collections with a number of vast and bold new styles hitting the runway. This year, Alice McCall celebrated 15 years of Keepsake clothing among her 10th MBFWA appearance. Amongst this excitement, we celebrated other Australian brands such as Hansen & Gretel and the debut appearance for PE Nation.

From stylists and influencers such as Yan Yan Chan, Deborah Symond O’neil and Nadia Fairfax, these leading ladies showed us just how to style each new trend.

We’ve had it all really. From snakeskin to leopard print, to the timeless polka dot. Get ready to unleash your inner wild-side, for this 2019 Winter is all about the playfully striking Zebra print.

As seen on the streets of Melbourne, designers, stylists and influencers have painted themselves in all things animal print with Zebra being a new addition to the pattern party. With this in mind, need not to discard all beloved leopard pants or cheetah silk skirts, as they will, thankfully remain favourites for the cooler months ahead.

Statement Suits

Deborah Symond O’neil | MBFWA

Designers such as Deborah Symond O’neil killed the statement suit trend at this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, where she showcased a stunning autumn appropriate number.

Although this has been a style particularly prominent in past runways, the suit trend has proved to remain a total favourite. Whether you layer it with a turtle neck and sweater underneath for the ultimate winter aesthetic or leave things bare allowing the suit to do all the talking, this trend seriously can do no wrong.

Influencer Molly King also got around this trend wearing both a black two-piece suit and a white two-piece suit over the course of the Fashion week.
